Watercolor Fundamentals Part 1 (Class 6 of 6)
This class focuses on the simple delight of mixing color with water, brushing it on paper, and watching what happens as it moves and dries. You will learn easy ways to create paintings that are all about color and the sometimes unpredictable nature of water.
No drawing skills are needed.
In this class we will explore the basic principles of watercolor painting. Learn or refresh your understanding of brush handling, brush care and setting up, the benefits of “good paper”, watercolor lights and darks, flat and graded washes, wet-on-wet techniques such as charging, wet-on-dry techniques such as glazing, color wheel, color theory, color mixing, and more. Simple applications of these techniques invite you to experiment and play.
Watercolor Fundamentals Part 2 (Class 6 of 6)
This next series will build on what we learned in Part 1, quickly refreshing some techniques and then applying them in our paintings. We will create more complex landscape paintings, skies and seascapes; wet-into-wet and wet-into-dry nature studies in a few different ways, and we will venture further into painting from our imaginations. We will explore abstraction and non-representational styles, where we don't look at something and try to paint it, but instead work intuitively with colors and shapes and let the paintings emerge and evolve from there. You don't have to know where you're going, enjoy the journey and see where it takes you!
This class is designed for adults 18+
class sizes are limited to 7 people, please register early
$270 for 6 classes, 2.5 hours each class
Payable via check, cash, or Zelle.
Brushes, palettes, set-ups, and paint will be provided.
There will be a materials fee of $15 plus tax for the series.

Watercolor Fundamentals Part 2 (Optional Class 8)

Intuitive Watercolor Abstraction
Intuitive Watercolor Abstraction
Join us for abstract watercolor painting at Tenfold Farmstand, in the
historic Union District Schoolhouse, est. 1895.
There will be 70 paint colors for you to choose from, plus 6
metallics. You will spend time selecting your colors intuitively, for
the way they make you feel. This process is quite personal.
What we paint does not need to accurately represent real things that
we see in the "outside world". We listen to our intuitions as our
paintings build shape by shape, mark by mark, without planning the end
result. We paint simply and methodically, focusing on and enjoying
putting paint on paper.
High quality watercolor paint, very good brushes, 1 piece of Arches
140# cold press watercolor paper (and a second if you finish your
first painting), and set-ups for painting in class will be provided.
This class is designed for adults 18+
class sizes are limited to 6 people, please register early
$45.00 per class, 2.5 hours each class
